About Beer School
Greg Browne hosted the first Map Room Beer School during a February blizzard over 20 years ago. He blew our minds. Thinking we were sitting down to a simple beer tasting, Greg astonished our small group by revealing beer’s depth and complexity, its roots in cultural traditions, and the stunning variety of flavors and characteristics that different malts, yeast, hops, and water could contribute to a beer’s profile.
Greg continued to teach for over 20 years. Last Winter, Greg decided to step aside as our venerable host. He’s busy as brewmaster at Mickey Finn’s (Libertyville, IL) and with many other projects. We miss him and hope to have him make a guest appearance from time to time!!!
Beer Schools start promptly at 4 p.m. Late arrivals will not be allowed to catch up on beers they’ve missed. Please, listen to the teacher when he or she is speaking. There will be plenty of time for socializing between beers.
